I am sure Coucilman Polasek will jump in any minute now and give us a breakdown of where the money went, the reasons why and how this is a great tax revenue.

We are all waiting Mr. Polasek.

I too experienced something similar to this recently. A Specialist here in town who never saw me or ordered any lab work on me diagnosed me with terminal cancer too. He did all this by looking at a scan. Over $40,000.00 in lab and tests billed to my insurance later concluded I DID NOT have cancer.

I totally understand where this lady is coming from.

Remember, people Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson is right in Houston. They have teams of Doctors who deal with Cancer everyday all day long. People from all over the world go there for evaluation, treatment and/or second opinions.
NO referral is needed and you can make your appointment online.

My daughter took her 2 children, a toddler and elementary age to the Splash Pad in Round Rock. The kids loved it & so did Mom. Perfect for that younger age group.
Will there be a user charge??
In Round Rock they charged like $2.00 per kiddo. If I remember correctly.

    EditorialBoard,
Again, why have rules/guidelines if some are upheld to them and others are exempt from them??

    I can NOT put it any better than Councilman Halepaska stated;
"the festival is "a grand idea" but had reservations about overstepping guidelines the council established for spending hotel occupancy taxes, specifically an application deadline the film festival missed.
"I don't want to ruin our process," he said."

    I agree it's a compliance issue.
What is the purpose of have deadlines, if some groups are upheld to it and others are not?

City councilman Tom Halepaska said the festival is "a grand idea" but had reservations about overstepping guidelines the council established for spending hotel occupancy taxes, specifically an application deadline the film festival missed.
"I don't want to ruin our process," he said. "It's just a little late."
Councilman Gabriel Soliz sided with Halepaska on the issue of the missed deadline.

This is NOT about For or Against this project.
Again, why have rules/guidelines if some are upheld to them and others are exempt from them??

The pathetically sad part is, if you search the 77901 zip code, the top 20 recipients 50+% not even "farmers" like Mr. Kubecka in the article.
Just land owners/trustfund babies who would NOT know what a hard days work is!

Definition of SUBSIDY- A grant or gift of money.

    born,
You hit the nail on the head........"a lot of our food is already imported."
It does NOT need to be!

I know the hard work of farming. My brother & I spend all our summers and school vacations on the farm. My mother sent us "city kids" to learn the meaning of hard work and we did.
I know the sacrifices of farming. We lost one of our cousins in a farming accident.
I have seen relatives who have used their "subsidy $$" to expand & reinvest in their farm/family business.
I have also seen some who have pi$$ed their "subsidy $$" away. Then want to cry you a river.
