I smoked for 10+ years before quitting myself. I agree that it's amazing how much you can smell it after you've quit. I can smell someone smoking ten cars ahead of me if they have the window down. However, I disagree with a ban. I think the current ban goes too far. People need to "man up" and admit that there is no good reason to ban smoking and not alcohol. As Dustin says, drinking alcohol (and driving) kills a hell of a lot more innocent people that the second hand smoke that some folks may be exposed to every once in a while. If people want to ban things, okay, but let's ban them all - not be selective because people love to drink but hate smokers. I just hate to see people continue to give up rights because they think the government will "protect" them. If it was drinking we were banning, the streets would be lined with people - you know it and I know it.
That being said, I applaud the OP for quitting, and I would also encourage all smokers to quit. It is hard, but well worth it. I am glad I did! In case you are wondering, it wasn't because I couldn't smoke in a restaurant or bar.

Okay, why does the zoo close too early for people who work to take their kids in the evening? Maybe changing the hours (even if only a few days a week) would help a little...
Our schools are full of idiots - and it's not the kids I'm referring to. Sorry, sad but true. If that was my daughter, I'd be in jail on an assault charge - period.
Just a late congrats to the couple, and my best advice in regards to the rest of these posts are to ignore them. People often feel like they must defend "their beliefs". As for me, I could care less if you're married or not, and frankly I don't think it is any of OUR business. Best wishes for a happy future!

You can actually just get another can from the city for a small fee. That way you never have to worry about going over. Our trash pickup is actually very good compared to other cities. I am fine with the changes, and although I dislike city govt as much as the next guy, you could be paying a whole lot more. In my opinion, the water/wastewater/trash rates are reasonable. Hmm..Not sure I ever had much good to say about govt before, but I guess there's always a chance of that :-)
