Is this really news?? Come on people, it is embarrassing to see such ridiculous garbage in the newspaper presented as something that anyone would be the least bit interested in.

I can remember ever so fondly when a meal at the Siesta was awesome....back in the late 60's up until mom and pop were not running things and the younger generation took over. I in no way intend to be mean or bitter, but the last three times I have been there, I am sure Bea would throw a fit if she would have tasted the food. The McCall's Enchiladas, always my favorite, did not even taste the same. I moved on to another favorite...."Bea's Special" when I visited the next time, and was horribly disappointed, skimpy on everything...tasted like a frozen TV dinner. I know the restaurant business is difficult but don't blame the failure of Siestat on the competition. The franchise Mexican Food restaurants in town cannot even come close to the quality and taste of the Siesta "back in the day". It is sad indeed since the local family restaurants always seem to be the best. I don't know what is planned for the location but am sure that if it is another restaurant, it will not come close to what Bea Trevino used to serve out of the kitchen she supervised. What a great woman!
This whole thing involves a lot more than just racial discrimination. That is the least of the abuse these fine doctors have taken from Mr. Brown and others at Citizens Medical Center. These three cardiologists are without a doubt the best in Victoria. People do not realize how lucky we are to have doctors of this quality in a town the size of Victoria. It all boils down to having a group of physicians with outstanding skills who care about their patients being trashed by other individuals who are jealous and care only about making as much money as possible without having to work too hard for it. They have taken the abuse for years and are finally standing up for what is right at the urging of the people who work with them and their patients. Thank God there is justice.
It's not bad enough that we gas our animals in the shelter instead of humanly using drugs to euthanize them....and now we are dumping the bodies in with the garbage??? And blondie42 It IS a big deal....a very big deal. It is wrong. Bain Cate is inhuman and the procedures at the local animal shelter are cruel and out of line with the standard practice in other cities. Dr. Cate and Victoria should hang their heads in shame.
I have had the honor and pleasure of working with Muslims on a daily and very close basis. Just like any culture or religion or race there are good people and bad people. The Muslims I have known are the epitome of honor and kindness and good. I know there are some bad Muslims....the ones who attacked America were bad. There are also very bad Christians...and I have personally known some. Every person should be judged individually. The people who say things like the caller did are to be pitied for their ignorance and shallow experience. If they don't want to read the Advocate....so be it....I don't think their loss will close your doors.
Surely you can come up with something better than a double negative as a reason not to vote for Rick Perry. I want my taxes reduced....don't care how anyone slaughters the English Language while he does it.
Again our illustrious mayor shows his despicable habit of totally ignoring the will of the people. The economy is bad and our council keeps voting tax increases. And please....stop with the "evaluation side getting corrected like it should be"....you are insulting every citizen in Victoria's intelligence. My taxes went up a ridiculous amount last year because of an increase in the evaluation of my home when the property values in my neighborhood have continued to decline. People....vote these people out.....Please.
This is an absolute example of what is wrong with our school system. What was wrong with the "no skin' policy. Nope....not good enough to keep it simple, the administration has to get crazy. I went to high school in a place where most kids didn't have any jeans that were NOT frayed....and it was not by choice...it was because three or four of their older siblings had worn them before they got to the student. Come on VISD.....let's worry about the kids reading and writing and not their worn jeans!
What a horrible disease Alzheimers. It is so hard for families to have to watch their loved ones lose contact with reality.
Steve Tyler is to be commended for not molding himself to the measure our illustrious city fathers think are best for us. The City Council should all be tossed. Our mayor is without a doubt one of the rudest, most arrogant people I have ever known. Watching a few City Council meetings where there was someone in attendance who actually dared to speak against Mr. Mayor's opinion is a real eye opener. I voted for Steve Tyler and will continue to vote for him as long as we are lucky enough to have him run for his office. Thank God there is someone willing to stand up against the powers that be.
