I know, there's no excuse as to why the school should have to notify all the parents that one set of parent's child brought a gun to school. It's not the school's fault the child brought a gun to school. It is the school's fault that when it was reported, that they took appropriate action to insure the safety of all the students. Kudos to East High faculty, staff and administration for taking the action they did. A special thanks to the student who reported this to the school. You did the right thing.
Get up to speed cuerogirl. That has already happened, although wrongly so.
oldgoliad. I just don't know how to respond to you. I guess it's because I don't understand what you are trying to say. I know it's not positive so it really doesn't matter.
Thank you Cheryl. No Judge, no lawyer, no State Agency will ever suggest putting that little girl back with those that abused her. You have saved her life. She is safe now away from those who hurt her. Your friends and family know you, love you and are standing by you.
Wendy and Pat, While good penmanship is certainly an admirable skill, and one which will assuredly serve a person well in life, the lack of that skill does not necessarily indicate a lack of education. (There were a few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors in your posts that I will attribute to typographical errors, so I will refrain from pointing them out.) I will assure you that Goliad students are indeed being taught to write legibly and to write well (just check those test scores). They are also being taught many new skills that will certainly propel them into the future ahead of their counterparts at other schools. Come on gals and hitch your old buggies to our Star. It's going to be a helluva ride. It's great to watch kids excell!
Oh, and congratulations to Ms. McDaniel on having an "Exemplary Campus" and to GISD for it's "Recognized District" rating. GISD certainly does have a view to the future, and the future is Bright!
YeeeHaw! Americans Rule! Now hold the summbich hostage for 81 million Samolians! (I just couldn't help myself, I had to say that. Get it, Samolians - Somalians! Getit? hunh?)
I'm with pilot on this one. Turn Somalia into a desolate, barren, stone age wasteland................ oh yeah, well bomb the hell out of them anyway! This piracy BS has gone on long enough. I'm still not real sure how they actually do this pirate stuff. I go out in a little boat all the time and I see some really BIIIIIIIG! ships going by. I can't imagine pulling along side one of them and telling them to "pull over, I've got a gun, I'm coming aboard". It would be insane.
I would think that you let them come along side and start throwing bricks or something at them and dare them to fire that RPG straight up at you. Hell, just fight back with whatever you've got.
TexasHuckleberry said, "student are very vunerable, my daughter has a friend that they tried t rob her at an ATM at The University of Texas In Austin,Texas and she took off her high heal shoe and beat him with it and he ran because she used the heal of her shoe."
YeeHaww! Don't mess with Texas Gals, even in Austin. Good for her, if she'd've had a gun she would have shot him too, and rightfully so!
The CHL permit process is such that a person has to want to carry in order to do so. Training and the trouble to go through the process insures that a very evenly conscientious person completes the course. The fee is due each year as well as refreshers I understand. The permit can be revoked and many are for any number of non-gun related offenses. People who take the time and effort to obtain a permit also take the time and effort to take care of the permit. The handgun must remain concealed so the bad guys don't know who has one and who doesn't. Soooooo... they leave everybody alone and only go for those who they are sure are not armed.
Write your congressmen and tell them the time has come for Americans to take back America. Tell them to get with the program or get out of office. Election day is coming.
This from "SpaceAngel"!? You, or anyone in the State of Texas has to be 21 years old to get a CHL. These are hardly kids. You obviously haven't taken the time to educate yourself on this issue but thanks for sharing your ignorance so that others can see what logic, reason and constitutionality is up against.
It's not the people who are wanting to carry a firearm for protection that are causing the problem. It's the people who resort to using a firearm for illegal purposes who are causing the problem. People who resolve to commit murder don't do so because their gun is conveniently located in their vehicle. In fact the main reason that these kinds of shootings kill so many people is because no one else has a gun. The disgruntled worker still may go get his gun but he/she is going to get a completely different reception when they come back and start shooting.
The nay sayers need to get their heads out of the sand. The truth is that this "kill everybody that ever did me wrong and whoever else I can take with me" mentality exists as a societal ill. The reasons behind that are another story and they have nothing to do with guns. The societal ill exists. Firearms will provide the best means of protection against those who choose shooting up the place as an answer to their personal problems. These people nearly always shoot themselves when they're done. These are sick people, not your average guy with a gun in his truck.

Ain't it the truth!
John, with your permission I'd like to print out your post and use it whenever I enter into debates concerning Gun Control and the 2nd Amendment.
