Congrats to you both! I grew up in Telferner and never knew this story. It must be exciting to have an old building with such history! I remember Foster Field and all the planes flying over our house and rattling the windows!
VHS had dress codes back in the 60's and the majority of all students adherred to them, just ask some of the girls who were sent home for micro-mini skirts. Those were the days! The main problem was teachers enforced the rules on some students and looked the other way for others. No matter where you go or what you do, there are always rules to follow! If you do not follow the rules, you suffer the consequences like losing your job, going to court for truancy, getting a traffic violation, etc. In this time in their lives, students need to be learning, not just trying to be cool wearing their pants 3 sizes too big or being in a gang. Go to school and get an education so you can be a responsible, productive employee and citizen.
Bring back the original names! I'm an OLD VHS student. "Class of '68 was GREAT!" Even now our class has a lot of school spirit. It would be great to be able to go back to see the Stingaree and go to homecomings at VHS. Victoria is not the same without VHS! Any time you have more than 1 school in a town, there is going to be some rivalry. That is the spirit of competition, whether it be between intracity schools or intraconference schools. Go, Stings!
Mr. Ivicic has been around a long time. I hope he can survive the construction. It is sometimes hard for small business owners but that does not mean he is resisting change, only that he can't afford to stay open if he can't make any money!
