Many years ago there used to be "town hall" type meetings with the neighborhoods and the police. If I remember right they dd these once a year to hear concerns of the residents. So, why did these meetings stop?

You could always get someone worse! One of them was already in that office and created a different kind of mess!
Ummm....could it be also that the decline in revenue at the bingo hall is because of the downward economic turn? Maybe Place Bingo needs to take their soap box to Obama?
And you can tell me why? Have you seen the other choices yet? I don't think any of the others would have the decency to go after the prison gang leaders like Tyler did. Or should he have just given them a free pass with "deferred adjudication" like another candidate did when she worked there?
You mean, it's good that VA finally printed the DA's quote about local law enforcement instead of leaving it out!
Since when does our City Council operate on a "blank check" mentality?
I agree that without community envolvement the police will not be very effective pro-actively. Having said that (or written that) Community Policing is not a new concept. This has been around in different forms since the mid-nineties in Victoria. Nothing new - just a new look and spin.
I stand corrected! Good job, VPD!
Okay, so if he was interviewed back in the summer and a crack investigator learned that this person was planning to go away to the Marines....why didn't these crack investigators call the local recruiter then? I bet he would have been kept here to satisfy these charges AND THEN evaluated for the military instead of wasting our tax dollars to train him.
Okay, I'm very happy that the DA and VPD worked this. But the problem I have is the writing....back and forth from "Tyler said" to "Ure said" to "Tyler said". I felt like I was watching a tennis match!
