"In the face of a man's death, a Christian never rejoices, but reflects on the serious responsibilities of each person before God and before men, and hopes and works so that every event may be the occasion for the further growth of peace and not of hatred." -Fr. Federico Lombardi, Vatican Spokesman, May 2, 2011
I would like to know more about this flower please. She said it blooms just one bloom per year... is that right? I'd like to know more about it because I have an abundance of these flowers on my property and they put out hundreds of blooms... but are just now coming up. So I am very curious about hers and the picture she took. I would've submitted pics of mine as well, but they weren't in bloom yet, not even close.
To Joseph concerning his comments on moving Mass to a different location on Super bowl Sunday:
If you familiarize yourself with the teachings in The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) AND understand them, your post was unneccessary and unfounded.
And I quote from the mentioned source:
" IV. Where is the Liturgy Celebrated?
1179 The worship "in Spirit and in truth"53 of the New Covenant is not tied exclusively to any one place. the whole earth is sacred and entrusted to the children of men. What matters above all is that, when the faithful assemble in the same place, they are the "living stones," gathered to be "built into a spiritual house."54 For the Body of the risen Christ is the spiritual temple from which the source of living water springs forth: incorporated into Christ by the Holy Spirit, "we are the temple of the living God."55
The stance of the mother-daughter team seems to be just an easy platform to say they are "ministering" to their clients (and free publicity). Those who are not "Christian" and "not excited about God" probably would not even go into their place because they"re looking to get the skulls, etc. from a different kind of place. So the main ones coming to them are those who already "know" God so how is that reaching out?
jared- by the way, the Catholic's don't have "temples"; merely man-made structures beautified for aesthetics purposes in aiding in the worship of God. yet, our bodies are God-made, therefore are true temples worthy of respect, honor and dignity.
while i agree that people should keep their comments to themselves if they disagree with someone's choices, i totally agree that this was NOT WORTHY OF A STORY. if we want others to mind their own business, then we should keep our business off the pages of the paper...THIS IS NOT NEWSWORTHY and in my opinion, not well-written.
...there is none so blind than he who will not see...
...open the eyes of my heart, Lord...
podunk... the name calling is totally uncalled for...remember the policy? my opinion wasn't calling anyone names as your was.
All in the name of entertainment...ok. But when The Advocate is ok with their writers using comments such as "same old crap" and "He's a [expletive deleted]", it takes away the interity of the writer and the paper itself. No literal bad language was actually used, but was intended. This article would have been more enjoyable if done more professionally with the wording not reduced as it was.
