Undocumented aliens? Illegal aliens? Illegal immigrants? Undocumented immigrants? Undocumented workers? Illegal workers? Which one will be the political correct classification tomorrow?

Great post, Kyle, and I congratulate the Gobblers on a great season. As an avid Refugio Bobcat fan, I support all area teams in the playoffs and I wish there were more high school football supporters like yourself. Winning programs such as Cuero's comes with a downside. For a few fans the team is expected to win a state championship each year. When a team gives it all on the field, does it's best to perform and the team loses on the score board, these few fans see it as a big failure. These few are not your true fans or friends. The true fans see it as a building block for next year and will be there to support them win or lose.
To the Cuero Gobbler team, you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. You have a class team and a great year. Don't let anyone tell you any different...

Bubblebuster, The last I saw, there are newspaper racks and subscriptions in all area towns. There are many exresidents of small towns surrounding Victoria that live here. I also go to Refugio, Victoria and Cuero games periodically. I am just saying that other towns get constant coverage, where Refugio does not. With Refugio constantly high in the rankings and doing so since the early 70s, the VA should be able to give equal coverage.
When you say, the VA shouldn't give more coverage to area schools (especially successful ones) than small, private schools, THAT'S JUST IGNORANT!

EdithAnn, Do you feel same way I do about the lack of media coverage for Refugio? The 'Cats are rated #1 in Class 2A and the best game coverage in the VA is a small back page blurb. Brubaker on Ch. 25 is just as bad with a late 'by the way Refugio won score' and then gives more coverage to private school volleyball scores on 'Friday Night Footbal Fever'.
I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I am tired of the 'Cats getting less coverage than Victoria E/W, Cuero, PL and Edna. These teams get a lot of coverage and rightfully so, but don't continue to leave out the quality program that the 'Cats and their fans have built for many years. As I said, Refugio is in Class 2A, but they can stand toe-to-toe with any 3A and most 4A schools in the state of Texas.

Once the high school teams get well into the playoffs and Refugio is the only area team left standing, maybe the VA will give the 'Cats some recognition. The soon to be #1 state ranked Bobcats get no more than a small blurb buried on the back page of the paper.
I am not knocking Cuero, PL, Edna or the new Victoria teams. They continually get the headlines and they have had great teams and seasons. But, the 'Cats are highly rated year after year and now have a great shot at the state title this year. Even Brubaker has difficulty acknowledging Refugio.
You can give the same coverage to all the area teams, but the Bobcats deserve a better piece of the sports coverage pie.

That would be a great rematch. Anyhow, I wish that Refugio would get some of the high profile coverage that Victoria, PL and Cuero get. May sound like sour grapes, but they don't. The only time they get good coverage is the playoffs when most of the area teams are out of it...Same thing on Ch. 25 with Brubaker.

Due to realignment, Refugio will not play Daingerfield in the playoffs. Daingerfield was added to the large 2A schools. Silvas, the soph running back you referred to sat out the 2nd half of the game with Robstown with a hip pointer and was listed as day to day. The Bobcats had an open date last Friday and hopefully he will be 100%. Another gun Refugio has is another running back that is a senior transfer from Calallen and the Wildcats hated to lose him....Refugio is rated #1 the the small 2A class.

Snotbubbles, Add Refugio to your list that can beat teams from other regions. Last week, they soundly defeated Robstown, then a undefeated 3A team (Refugio is considered small 2A), rated #2 in state and consistently ranked up there with the best of them.....I will go out on a limb and say that the Bobcats can stand toe to toe with any 2A or 3A team in the state of Texas. Just wanted to add my two cents worth!

Finley, here is an idea. Go to Refugio every Monday and Tuesday afternoon until the end of the season and be trained on how to properly coach young men to prepare for a Friday night game.
