George Ann Cormier, the director of the Calhoun County Museum speaks about the town, one of the largest ports on the coast at one point, survived the devastating hurricane of 1875, but they gave up after the 1886 hurricane swept through. Aug. 20 is the 125th anniversary of the destruction of the town by hurricane and fire.
