I'm beginning to think that Alzheimer's symptoms are selective. I mean, Dad can't remember what day it is or even that he lives in Victoria now. But today, promptly at 5 p.m., he told me, "Well, this is about the time we go to the park so let's get ready." I looked at him, "You're right, Daddio - let's go!" We both agreed that Saxet Lakes Park was the place to go. Yesterday we drove to Edna and visited Brackenridge Plantation Park. We saw the most beautiful sunset from the gazebo there. I had forgotten to charge my phone so all I had was enough juice for one sunset shot.

We left home to go to Saxet Lakes at about 5:30 pm. I asked Daddy if he was hungry but he wasn't and neither was I. But as we got closer to Dairy Queen I started thinking about Blizzards so I pulled in. I ordered something called a "Chocolate Extreme" and I got my Dad a "Strawberry and Chocolate" blizzard. When they handed us the blizzards Daddy and I burst out laughing. His blizzard looked like a meteorite or something had exploded in the middle and frozen shock waves threatened to fall off the sides of his cup. Something about it was hilarious to us and we laughed about it all the way to the park.

We stopped at the park playground and walked over to the swings with our ice cream. I let Dad have the higher swing and I took the one lower to the ground. He was a little concerned that the sand might get on his shoes but other than that he was happy to be on the swing. He made a joke about the swing chains breaking because of our weight. It was beautiful out there with the wind and the clouds and the sun setting. I took pictures with my thoroughly charged phone.

Earlier today while I was working from home I was a little stressed. I don't have everything set up right on my computer so it's a little harder to do my work. After being out with my Dad in the fresh, windy air and laughing with him I felt one hundred percent better. Tonight I went to the store and got bacon and eggs and tomorrow morning we're going to cook breakfast and make coffee at the park if the weather cooperates. I can't wait. Image Image Image Image
