I was so grateful for the warmer weather today. I managed to coax Dad outside by putting his warm jacket on and setting him up with a fresh cup of coffee on the patio. He called out advice as I raked leaves and gathered sticks to start a fire in our fire pit. I was happy to see him joking around so much. It's important to me to see him laugh and talk, even if he sometimes doesn't make much sense. When we're laughing about something silly he seems like the dad I used to know.

Later, in the evening, Robert was vacuuming the living room, I was folding clothes on the couch and Dad was playing with the cat. He has a cat toy that's a stick with a string and ball with feathers attached. Felix (the cat) loves it and never tires of trying to catch it. Dad never tires of teasing Felix with it.

Anyway, while I was watching Dad and the cat playing I was filled with love for our little family. This is not what I thought my life would be like in my 50's--But hey, it is what it is. And it's pretty sweet.
