So many nice people have come up to me and asked how my Dad is doing. The answer I'm happy to give them is that he's doing well. He celebrated his 86th birthday on the 18th of this month. We took him to the Olive Garden to eat (his favorite restaurant) and he had a nice time. Although his kidneys continue to get worse, according to the blood test results that hospice got back last week, he continues to be as sweet and upbeat as ever.

Dad plays bowling on the X-Box in the evening for at least two hours when he's feeling up to it. He plays with his kitten Felix and enjoys listening to his music. We've gotten into a routine that works out for all of us and with the services of Senior Helpers my husband and I are able to go to work and not have to worry about my Dad.

I think that's why I haven't written on this blog lately. In the beginning everything was so scary and uncertain. I had no idea how to care for an Alzheimer's patient. I look back on those first weeks dad was with us and I have to laugh. Man, we thought we had to know his every movement. I'm so glad we stopped using that dang alarm outside his door.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all for the support and concern you've shown us since I started this blog back in August. It sure makes things easier knowing so many people care.
