To the good people of Victoria County, you are being hoodwinked, by a few officials on the Airport Commission Board.

It was stated in the Advocate that no qualified applicants had applied for the airport managers position, of which the county paid for the posting. This is an untrue statement, I know that there where no less than two highly qualified applicants that applied for this position, of which included in their qualification was that they had received Airport of the year awards at their respective airports. Now wouldn't that be a feather in the county's cap to have an aware such as that, and it could happen is the commission picks the right and qualified candidate.

The present road that the commission is headed down is with a Management company that will be headed up by an individual(Jason) who has been working for the county as a leasing agent and other varies duties, but very little Airport management experience. Has anyone checked his back ground to see if what he is saying is provable? "This gent is associated quite closely with a few Judges on the commission, go figure. You the good folks of Victoria County have invested Million of taxpayer dollars in this airport and you deserve the best that money can bring in order to have this airport grow, not go back wards.

The Victoria Regional Airport is a diamond in the rough and can be an economic engine for the growth of Victoria. This Gent hasn't done anything to promote the economic development of the airport since he was placed in charge of the economic growth of the airport. He has over priced the land value driving off potential new business and when he was to promote this airport last year at the NBAA he went an visited his friends instead, sure hope the County didn't pay for that trip.

This airport needs someone who is dedicated to the airport not the political whims of the commission, the only way this airport is going to grow and make money for the County is to have a dedicated Airport Manager that knows how to promote the airport for General aviation as well as for Military aviation. A good and professional Airport Manager knows leasing as well as all the other duties that go with the position. Let Jason continue to due the duties he was contracted for by the County, to lease and oversee their construction needs downtown, he is a consultant not an airport manager.

Enough by me, its time for you good folks to stand up and let your commission know that its not business as usual the good old boy way, it cost to much, lets do it right this time.

  • Once again, Matt Ocker sticks his foot in his mouth...accusing the Advocate of censorship by removing a comment. As CJ pointed out, the comment was removed BY THE USER, and it is clearly stated as such. Ocker said he couldn't wait for the Advocate's excuse...yet, when PROVEN WRONG...where is Matt Ocker's apology and admission of wrong?

Is this the kind of person you want as County Judge? Doomed, I tell you...doomed.

  • Thanks for sending that link. I did some testing on the other items you mentioned, and the remove option is not always there, but it should be. I will bring this up to our web dept. and see if we can figure out what is going on. Thanks again! • Suzy - It should be there all the time, if it's a comment on articles, blogs, photos attached to articles, and videos.

  • one question. Is it there for just a short time after the post, or is it supposed to be there all the time?

  • If you are signed in to your account, you should see a remove button next to comments on articles and blogs. If you can send a link to the page where you don't see the remove button, or even better, if you can send me a screenshot of the page, I can find out what the issue is. You can send the information to cjcastillo@vicad.com. Thanks - CJ

  • Matt, you've got my vote. In most cases, more transparency is all that's needed to keep govt business above board, and I believe you have the knowledge & guts needed to open up govt to the citizens. With open govt comes better representation.

Speaking of representation, I've noticed there's a pretty strong correlation between some citizens' desires for govt-planned "prosperity" & "growth" and their willingness to turn a blind eye to govt shenanigans. To each his own conclusion as to what this correlation/coincidence means.
