Remember when cartoons were good? None of the junk you see these days...wait..OMG I just made myself feel SO old with saying that. I suddenly feel the need to go out and buy Epsom salt and Centrum Silver. AHEM Anyway as I was saying, I'm talking about when cartoons were simply entertaining. Cartoons like the original Transformers ,He-Man , Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch , Herculoids, Voltron , and on and on and on. Well recently I got my mitts on one of the greatest cartoons ever that was released on DVD here in the US. I present to you for those not in the know - DANGERMOUSE! Any fan of DM will remember these as the first couple of opening scenes:

These next pictures are more screen captures form the DVD. On the left is DM is riding along with his trusty sidekick Penfold while getting a mission briefing from Colonel K. On the right is DM's arch nemesis, Baron Silas Greenback and his pet caterpiller Nero.

It was really great to be able to watch these with my kids. They liked them and asked me questions about the show and about me when I watched them like how old was I and if I saw them ALL or just whatever. A great thing about coming back to something you enjoyed when you were younger is you pick up on jokes easier. For me, I do not remember them being as funny as they were. Take this next screenshot for example that I had to pause the show cause I was laughing so hard:

The only disappointment was when I realized they didnt' have any episodes of Bananaman which really need to be seen to get the whole DM effect. Also, I hope you don't mind CJ but Penfold had mentioned that he was hungry and I told him about how your blog always induced some sort of craving. He is now packed up and ready to go visit you hoping you can make all the food you blog about.

dismayed.gif Well I was planning on making that the end of my post, but when I was looking for a link for Bananaman I found this website dedicated to classic Nick! If there are three things that I grew up on it's my Grandma's cooking, Sega, and Nickelodean. Although simple, the website has a great section of theme songs which really took me back. Here are some of my favorites, be sure to check out the complete list for others.

- Bananaman
- Belle and Sebastian
- Danger Mouse
- David The Gnome
- Hey Dude
- Mister Wizard's World <— I still love science.
- Mysterious Cities of Gold
- Picture Pages <— Who DIDN'T love picture pages?
- Pinwheel <— Best. Show. Ever.
- Today's Special
- You Can't Do That On Television

I can't be alone, are there any other Nick kids out there?

* UPDATE *

It's now Wednesday and the past couple of days we've gotten home from daycare all three have asked to watch more DangerMouse! YAY!
