Dear Readers: In any relationship, commitment is probably the second most important thing, after love of course. Commitment means you'll be loyal to that person and take care of them. Sometimes, people are afraid to commit because it can be emotionally scary for them. If your significant other has commitment issues, talk to him or her about them. If you never communicate, then the other person won't know how you feel, and this can cause major barriers between the two of you. After explaining your feeling and talking to that person, there should be a deeper connection and you can become a stronger couple. If that person still won't commit to you, then maybe it's time to move on. Lots of Love, Alice

Original Ask Alice

Dear Alice: Well, there's this guy, and he says he's falling for me, but he won't make any type of real commitment. It didn't matter as much before but now both of our feelings are getting more serious and I’m beginning to feel like I need some loyalty. What should I do? -Unwillingly Uncommitted

Dear Unwillingly Uncommitted: You should talk to him about how you feel; it will show your plans for this relationship, and you will feel much better when you’re not holding back your feelings from him. Maybe he’s just too nervous to commit to you, or he’s afraid. You should also ask him about his feelings, and he might start to feel more comfortable with you. If he won’t discuss anything and still refuses to commit, then you should end this “more than friends” relationship and move on to someone who won’t waste your time or emotions. -Lots of Love, Alice
