Dear Readers: Bullying used to be classified as a few hits or verbal abuse on the playground. Not anymore. Now we have Cyber Bullying, or harassment via technology. Why would a bully take the time to hurt someone in person when they can just send a nasty Facebook message? Or a rude text? This type of bullying is a trend because the bully doesn't have feel any emotion. The bully won't feel any guilt or sorrow because they feel they aren't actually talking to their victim. These types of bullies won't stop until they feel consequences for their actions. If you or anyone you know is being cyber bullied, tell a trusted adult or teacher. They can help you fix the problem. Bullying doesn't cause any black eyes, but it does cause emotional harm, and is one of the causes for many teen suicides. You could save your own or someone else's life by telling an adult. Lots of Love, Alice

Original Ask Alice:

Dear Alice: I've always been a bit of a nerd and teased about it, but now it's just getting worse and worse. The person who eggs everyone on and starts everything is "Casey," a classmate of mine. I know I should just ignore the bullying, but sometimes I just feel sad about it and want it to stop.

  • Tired of the Torments

Dear Tired of the Torments: It's only natural that you would feel bad about being bullied, and that's perfectly fine. Bullies want to hurt you because they are hurt inside and they feel that the pain they give you will fill their own hole. Maybe if you talked to this Casey in private about what has been hurting him, you could get to the root of the problem and stop the bullying. Bullies are just jealous of the qualities you have, and you have integrity for not bullying back.

Dear Alice: I smoke weed pretty regularly, and some of my friends complain about it. I don't understand what the big deal is. If God gave us weed, then why is it bad to use it?

  • Ready for Legalization

Dear Ready for Legalization: Not only is weed illegal, it is also a dangerous substance. Weed can cause aggression, anxiety, depressed mood and decreased appetite over time. It may also lead to lung cancer and can be a gateway drug for you to start using heavier, more addictive substances.

While yes, God did give us the hemp plant Cannabis Sativa, He never told us to smoke it. And by choosing to ignore the law of the United States, you break the Fourth Commandment that says you need to honor all authority figures. While medical marijuana can help dying medical patients suffer less pain, they are using it legally. Using the plant in any other way is against the United States laws and God's Commandments.
