While nothing has been voted on yet, congratulations are in order for Rep. Geanie Morrison, the City of Victoria, the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, the Victoria Economic Development Corporation, and the countless business leaders that have participated in filing legislation to bring Texas A&M University System to our Community.
It is so satisfying to see our Community come together in such a positive manner.
This is truly an impressive display of the support and hard work by our Leaders to invest in the future of our Community.
What a fantastic opportunity this is for future students in this area.

doubleckr,
I find it flattering that 3/4 of your comments have been made on my blog!
Are you going to take me out to dinner too?
Be sure to bring me flowers.
March 12, 2011 at 9 a.m.You hit your head on the nail!
Me and the Community Leaders are carpetbaggers and scalawags.
So what does that make you???
March 12, 2011 at 8:49 a.m.doubleckr, you said
"Those are the only Aggie schools. The rest, you know, are just interlopers on the permanent college fund."
I don't think anyone has suggested otherwise. If someone affiliated with this program has, perhaps you should point out where they made this mistake.
Let me ask you this. Do people in the current system believe that they are UH Cougars, or UHV Jaguars?
LOL!
March 11, 2011 at 2:42 p.m.I believe I read that the donated lands are surrounded by land from the people donatinng the land...That means when the county/city taxpayers will be paying to upgrade their land. That is a win in that the land gets written off and his/her land gets upgraded. I also went to a school (kingsville) that was taken over by the A&M system. All we got were higher tuitions and through the roof building use fees. These are facts that need to be considered.
March 11, 2011 at 1:22 p.m.ThirdPartyObserver you said
"Let's wait and see whose land gets "donated" giving "business leaders" the opportunity to have great financial gain by manipulating the ouster of UHV."
Perhaps you care to expplain which "business leaders" are manipulating the ouster of UHV in order to have great financial gain.
Please tell us.
We are all waiting.
Now is you change to be the shining star and expose the conspiracy.
March 10, 2011 at 9:38 p.m.Agreed! Lamppost.
Texas A&M will be a better "fit" for Victoria. I hope all the community leaders will support this.
March 9, 2011 at 8:19 a.m.I cant wait to get the UH system out of here. They have held this university down for too long. Who turns down free land? Who says no to building a campus when the existing buildings are nearly maxed out? No vision.
March 8, 2011 at 7:37 p.m."Oh we all know who will benefit and it will NOT be the students or community"
Why wouldn't the students and the community?
who is it that you think would benefit?
March 8, 2011 at 7:13 p.m.Oh we all know who will benefit and it will NOT be the students or community.
March 8, 2011 at 6:40 p.m.The only A$$ is the one who thinks this is a deal on the up and up. I hope A&M knows what they are getting into. Let's wait and see whose land gets "donated" giving "business leaders" the opportunity to have great financial gain by manipulating the ouster of UHV. This is only the tip of the iceberg is my prediction.
March 8, 2011 at 5:29 p.m.wow victoria about time.
March 8, 2011 at 4:49 p.m.hahahaha
Your ASSuming that "business leaders" will reap personal financial benefits IF this happens.
You know what happens when you ASSume...
March 8, 2011 at 4:44 p.m.Will be interesting to see which "business leaders" will reap personal financial benefits IF this happens. Seeing that, based on another post today, there is a good chance the VSTDC and the City Council BOTH violated TOMA. By this blogger's post I guess it is all OK if the end result works. I for one would much rather see some transparency in what local goverment does.
