Memorial graduate named to preseason baseball team

KINGSVILLE – Texas A&M-Kingsville junior Jeremy Flores was named to the 2012 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team all-South Central Region Team.

Flores, a Memorial graduate, pitched in relief and made five starts last season.

The left-hander made 13 relief appearances and posted a 1.26 ERA.

He had seven saves, allowed eight hits and seven walks and struck out 22 in 14.1 innings.

He held opponents scoreless in 12 relief appearances and did not allow a hit in eight of his first nine appearances.

Flores and the Javelinas open the season Tuesday at 6 p.m. against St. Edward’s at Nolan Ryan Field in Kingsville.
