There wasn't as big a crowd of riders as last year but those who participated in the second annual Riverside Ride didn't seem to mind.

About 90 people registered for the annual event, which begins and ends in Riverside Park. Routes of 10k, 20 miles, 40 miles and 100k were offered as well as a pancake breakfast cooked up by ride sponsors, the Kiwanis Club of Victoria.

I work on Saturdays so I opted for a shorter ride. I was joined by one of my Victoria Advocate bosses, Managing Editor Thomas Martinez and his son, Myles. Tom and I did the 20 miles while Myles did the 40-mile route.

Our 20-mile route took us out of the park and onto Moody Street, then up Lower Mission Valley Road. We took a brief break after 10 miles at a rest stop then took a left onto Coletoville Road. Another left and we went down the Upper Mission Valley Road. Crossing U.S. 59, we took a ride through Saxet Lakes Park then back on Moody Street and then to Riverside Park.

We completed the course in 1 hour, 48 minutes (not counting the 8 minutes at the rest stop). Congrats to all who made the ride.

Next up: Cuero's Wildflower Ride on Saturday, April 10. Anyone wanna come with me?
