Hi readers (yes, both of you). I haven't blogged in awhile because I haven't been riding much lately. Plus, my scam-baiting adventures have dried up. Even the Nigerian scammers are wise to me when I sign my emails to them as "Milburn Drysdale, president of the Beverly Hills Bank of Commerce."
Just wanted to let you know of the Mission Tour de Goliad bicycle ride coming up Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. It begins and ends in Goliad's Courthouse Square and there are several short and long rides to choose from. As usual, I'll be doing the 30-mile route. When the ride commences at 8 a.m., participants are in a happy mood and the adrenaline is pumping so 30 miles is not as daunting as it sounds.
There are rest stops along the way with cookies, fruit, Gatorade and water offered to hungry and thirsty riders.
Other routes available on this "rain or shine" ride are 10, 50 and 85 miles. Route maps are given to riders and the roads are patrolled by ride hosts.
For me, the most difficult part of this ride is getting up early in the morning to be at the square by 7:30 a.m. I've been doing this ride for the past 16 years and wouldn't miss it for a barrel of beer.
Hope you can make it to Goliad on the 15th and ride the Goliad County countryside with me. http://www.goliadcc.org/index.php/Goliad-TX-Info/missions-goliad-bike-ride.html
