Mr Roofer Man who's never done a roof before

We needed a new roof on our house. Someone recommended an individual who calls us by phone. This person that we shall refer to as MM came by the house and was a “talker” and very convincing. MM was telling us about all the jobs he had going on and would work us into his schedule, we could even pay him out in monthly payments and if we didn’t like his work, we would not have to pay for it. It all sounded fine and we said we could do that. MM gave us the list so we went and paid for it. The material was delivered on a Monday and MM showed up & wanted to know if we could give him an advance of half…($900) and we said no..We could give him $500 and would not pay the balance until the job was completed. MM took the $500 and did not show up until Friday (4 days after the delivery) and brought a helper which he dropped off. The helper got on the roof and MM left.No one came for another 4 days and now the helper ( who had worked for a local roofing company) did come back and put 1 sheet then left. They came back 2 or 3 days later… MM did not even know that you must put down a wooden frame to nail the metal.
The first sheet was even with the roof edge but the more sheets they put down the further they protruded. (10 inches hung over on last sheet before we asked them to stop) We told MM that is not acceptable and he needed to correct it. MM went to the top and tried to use the same sheets of metal and now they were full of holes and would not work and could not be used again. We had to get rid of MM and when we did…we had to repurchase the metal sheets which now cost us over $500 as he ruined over 30 sheets so now we had to buy new metal (now the new price was almost 50% more then when we first made the purchase 3 weeks prior. We called MM and told him to pick up his tools he promised us he would refund our $500…..Two weeks and no refund Maybe something could be passed requiring these kind of people to put up a city bonus such as vendors do. Every sentence MM kept saying..seem to have the word Jesus and God including and the fact that he was a very devoted church goer. Watch out...MM is a very smooth talker.
