my prayers are with the family and the girlfriend - i believe this could happen only because i have been in a argument with my ex and while we were fighting he pushed me and i pushed him back and accidently pushed him into his window - he didnt fall out of the window but he did get cut bad and he was bleeding and he didnt know, neither did i. we went to bed and he woke up feeling bad like 10 min later and we noticed what was going on, we caught it in time thank god. its possible to be drinking and not have good senses - like smell and when you pass out from drinking our your brain is going 100 million miles a min its easy to not notice simple things like oh i feel the bed getting wet. he also might have hugged her with one arm and rolled over and went to sleep, he probably thought he was ok and didnt want her to worry. who knows what happend we were not there so we shouldnt think anything till the police have more info, no one is going to know what really happend unless you were there.

but ouch if my arm was severed i would think the pain would be really bad - but i am not going to start anything.

Holes in the story? Yes, I agree. If the girlfriend was sober and alert enough to hear the police at the door and walk to the door..... surely she should have noticed his heavy bleeding. It is so sad that this young man lost his life and at such a tender age. I hope the authorities find out exactly what happened and who is responsible. Surely, when punching the windows he was not suicidal just drunk and angry. I can not believe how many people were being so judgemental when posting comments on the story. I know I drank more frequently before I turned 21! My sympathies to Juan's family and loved ones.

Yes, you would probably notice that much blood, but this isn't CSI.  Why is everyone worrying about it, let the police do their job if they think something is fishy!

The story says his arm was nearly severed!  How do you not notice that much blood!?!?!?  Something isn't right with this story!  Yes, factor in deep gashes and alcohol thinned blood, but she said he put his arms around her and lay down.... how did she not feel, smell or see the blood? 
Why did the VA lock the threads? 

he was drinking, and alcohol thins the blood.  one of the reasons why they say to never drink before getting a tattoo.

And also I think something about alcoholics (who've been drinking for sometime) lack one of the  necessary elements for blood coagulation, I think Vitamin K.  Wikipedia had no info on that, so I could definitely be wrong, I'm no doctor.

Besides, i think it was more than just a few scratches, it's possible for someone to really cut themselves on glass.

I have a friend who accidentally fell though a window.  He used his hand to brace himself but his arm went through. 
His arm looked like it went through a meat grinder.  He could've easily died if we didn't get him to the hospital.  He has tendon and nerve damage that he'll live with for the rest of his life.  So yeah, there may be some holes in the story, but I believe punching through a window could easily result in death.
