Looks like the Victoria Community Center, area burn bans, water and other topics are the current talk of the town.

Do you have issues you'd like to share with us?

Wednesday afternoon, the Advocate's editorial board is meeting to consider issues facing the community.

Let us know your concerns.

Phone me at 361-580-6313, e-mail at tdelaney@vicad.com or post to this blog. Thanks.

  • Victoria Cinema Parking Lot a Meca for Criminals

Sunday, July 12th, my daughter was at the movies and when she came out to her car, her CD/Radio Deck had been stolen. I talked to the Cinemark manager and he said that since the Victoria Advocate did an article on the amount of car break-ins in the movie parking lot, that criminals are on a spree. They've broken into his car, too. I asked him if he had a camera system for the parking lot and he said, "no". I'm writing the advocate to warn everyone that criminals are breaking in cars at the movie theatre and no one is doing a thing about it. Do not drive your nice car there and not expect your radio to be lifted from it.

  • Hi Alton -- I have forwarded your suggestion, which is a good one, to our news editors. Certainly, whatever they find out for a business/economy story would also be good for a subsequent editorial.
    Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

  • It would be interesting to know how the Cross Roads area is fairing in these economic times. Unemployment, sales tax revenues, commercial vacancies, employment postings, none payer ER visits, and crime--is it up/down and what percent? And how is it affecting the community. What are the immediate treads.?
