I meant to include that the Advocate's event recognizing opinion writers is free.

We will have the event called Your Soapbox at the Town Square from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 in De Leon Plaza.

Expect some treats to the first 20 people who arrive, and we will have cookies and iced tea for our guests, as well.

We are featuring Gary Moses, who will talk about community involvement. Gary, as you might know, is ubiquitous.

Also, we will have Advocate Web aficionados on hand to show you our newly designed Web site (to be launched March 30). You will be amazed at the ease of navigating our Web site. Our goal is to always improve, and this is one major step.

But more than anything, we want to recognize you. That's why we planned this event: "Your Soapbox," and we want to meet you and provide an opportunity to meet other opinion writers -- it doesn't matter if we all agree on issues; what matters is that we speak out, and that is the American way, the way of exercising our First Amendment right of freedom of speech and freedom to assemble.

See you there. Take care, and keep those opinions coming. The more we know about issues, the better we can work to make the right choice.
