The ABC network announced the Season 13 cast. And I must admit, I was surprised with the selection. This is quite a mixed cast.
Chaz Bono, the child of Sonny and Cher, will participate. Bono is a female-to-male transgender man, which I think is a first for the popular show.
Bono will join Nancy Grace, Kristin Cavallari, Ricki Lake, Carson Kressley and David Arquette, Chynna Phillips, Elisabetta Canalisare, Hope Solo, Ron Artest, Rob Kardashian, J.R. Martinez. It will be interesting seeing them do the tango and paso doble on the dance floor.
Nancy Grace is a no-nonsense prosecutor who became a household name during the Casey Anthony trial. She pulled no punches when it came to seeking justice. It will be a treat to see Ms. Grace doing to the fox trot.
Ron Artest, also known as Metta World Peace, brings athletic flair to the cast. The Los Angeles Lakers player is a tough defender on the court, with a personal soft side. He is an advocate for mental health issues and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
J.R. Martinez has one of the most compelling stories. He's deemed the "Soap's Real-Life Hero" by ABC. In 2003, his Humvee hit a landmine in Iraq. He was 19 years old. He spent almost three years in recovery at San Antonio's Brooke Army Medical Center. Now he is a motivational speaker and actor on the soap opera "All my Children."
Advocate readers, we have our own dancing celebrities. Thursday night, the Crossroads community has a chance to see swing dancing. I even wrote a story about it, Teams dance to raise money for rehab center.
