On Wednesday, the former Illinois governor, Rod R. Blagojevich, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for 18 felony corruption convictions, according to the NY Times. For full article click here.

One of the charges includes trying to sell or trade the Senate previously occupied by President Barack Obama.

The fallen leader apologized right before his sentencing. “I have nobody to blame but myself for my stupidity and actions, words, things that I did, that I thought I could do,” he said.

He is now the second consecutive governor from Illinois to get prison time. His predecessor, George Ryan Sr., went for federal corruption charges.

He was sentenced to 14 years but I wonder how much time he will serve. Do you think the punishment fits the crime?
