Female legislators are giving their male counterparts a taste of their own medicine. Literally. Ohio State Senator Nina Turner is the third lawmaker nationwide to introduce a bill that limits men's access to Viagra.

The proposed bill would require that men to have a psychological assessment before receiving the medication and a cardiac stress test every 90 days while on the drug as well. The patient will also have to sign a form that he understands the side effects, according to ABC News. For the full story click here.

Turner said the bill is out of concern for men’s sexual health. She released a statement on her website. “The men in our lives, including members of the General Assembly, generously devote time to fundamental female reproductive issues. The least we can do is return the favor. … By implementing more intensive screenings before prescribing the medication and requiring outpatient educational services, we can do more to prevent the potential side effects linked to PDE-5 inhibitors.”

Turner and other women lawmakers have been responding to anti-abortion and anti-contraception legislation.

Kelly Cassidy, an Illinois state representative, introduced an amendment to require men to watch a graphic video about Viagra's side effects before being able to receive a prescription. Virginia State Sen. Janet Howell's bill would require men to get a rectal exam before obtaining the erectile dysfunction drug.

Do you feel these women are giving knee-jerk reactions to new laws or making a valid claim? Your thoughts?
