An introduction to Home Town

There's just something about homes. Whether it's gawking at those we wished we lived in, or looking in crannies in our own for ways to improve them, homes are so much a part of all our lives.

Homes are, no doubt, part of the American Dream. They can certainly be the biggest investment we make in our lives.

It's been my dream for years to live in the perfect home. If you think I'm kidding: My wife, Amy, and i even have the blueprints for the home we intend to build one day.

Growing up, I spent considerable time on construction sites. My grandfather was a custom homebuilder. My father built, or helped to build, two of the homes I lived in, and he also built homes for family members.

I guess it's in my blood.

Maybe that's why this blog will deal with all things homes: home improvement, cool floorplans, home shows, going 'green' and more.

With that, i hope you join in this discussion. We'd love to see pictures of your favorite homes, listen to your home improvement successes (or, as my wife can attest, home improvement snafus; I can bite off more than I can chew, believe me).

In addition, we'd love to hear your home improvement tips, ideas for creating great rooms, and tips on landscaping.

In my first blog, which will be submitted in a few days, I'll talk about some of the best sites on the Internet to get ideas for floorplans, as well as modern alternatives that you can add to your home to save money.

In the meantime, don't hesitate to add your two cents. I look forward to hearing from you.
