If so, did you know you have one of 134 registered dogs in Victoria County who share the name Max?

The Advocate requested the county's registered pet database (including pet names, species and breeds). The county was kind enough to share it with us.

You may be surprised to learn the county's Top 20 pet names. We talked about some of the funnier names in the newsroom this morning.

If you're curious about the names in the Top 20, I'll give you a hint: Koopie is not one of them. In fact, only one dog in the county is named Koopie.

For this fun feature, we want to meet a dog named Max. We'll do a feature on the dog, publish a photo of him in the paper, and take a look at all the popular -- and unpopular -- pet names in Victoria County.

So, Lady Jasmine: Don't feel bad. You're not the only pet to have a name all by yourself.

There are more than 4,000 different pet names in the county -- and many names are unique.

This feature will publish in coming days. If your dog is named Max, or if your pet has a unique, one-of-a-kind name, we want to meet it.

Respond here or e-mail or call me. If you have a friend with a dog named Max, or know someone who has a pet with a strange name, let us know that, too.

  • I had a friend whom has a dog named Max.
Here is a picture I took of Max sometime in 2006. Even if it were raining, we would all go fishing. He was a great sport!
Max was also a great pal in keeping me company in the early morning hours for coffee out on the porch.
    Those were some great memories!

  • Hey Gabe, I think you should do a feature story on my dog Buffy. Should make for some good photos of him eating out of the garbage, eating my shoes, eating my iPod, eating my Bluetooth, puking on the carpet, puking on the couch...you know, the whole gamut of deranged Cujo like activities.

  • Ddelvalle: Does your brother still have Max? Does he live in Victoria.

  • Well I'm sure he would love that but we don't live in Victoria now. : (
His other "nickname" is Hitler as he has a Hitler mustache.  He is quite a character & he was also a rescued cat.  He was left to die in a field, my neighbor ran across him when he was surveying the property & he moved in with us.  I am the crazy cat lady as we have 12 cats, all strays we picked up here & there & never found homes for.

  • That's hillarious. We may have to meet ole Paxil. Are you willing to share the cat's story?

  • I have a cat named Paxil...started out as Pax Christi, Peace in Christ, but he turned out to be the AntiChrist so we changed it to Paxil....should be Seroquel as that is more appropriate.
