If you're like me and many other Victorians, you've been swatting mosquitoes lately when you're outdoors during the late afternoon and evening.

One Victoria woman, we learned from a solid source, can relate. This woman, though, we were told, contracted the West Nile virus, a sometimes-deadly virus spread primarily through mosquitoes.

Texas reports 41 cases of human West Nile cases this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We're working to verify the local tip now. In the meantime, do you know anything about the local woman who fell ill to this virus? Do you have any West Nile stories to share?

If so, post those stories and tips in here, or contact me at 361-580-6519 or gsemenza@vicad.com.

Thanks for your help,
