How did you meet your sweetheart?

Breakout the checkbook, guys. Valentine's Day is right around the corner. And you know what that means:

Expensive dinner, flowers, candy, gifts and your undivided, romantic attention.

Men dish out this affection, of course, because we love our significant others.

And these romantic holidays usually spur fond memories. With that in mind:

How did you meet your loved one?

We are compiling romantic stories to publish for Valentine's Day. Do you have a romantic story about how you met your husband or wife, girlfriend or boyfriend?

Advocate reporter Tara Bozick is compiling these stories. We will publish your stories and feature the most romantic.

My story does not make the cut. I first saw my then-future wife working at an outdoor smoothie bar: I walked up to the bar, which was attached to a restaurant, sat down, turned on the "charm" and ordered a cheeseburger.

Her first words to me? "You can't sit there."

Amy, annoyed, I think, that I flirted with her, informed me food was served inside the restaurant. With my tail between my legs, I walked indoors.

These days, we like to joke that Amy had me at "You can't sit there."
