Todd Jett shoots pumpkins out of a 20-foot cannon. He'll launch a half-dozen frozen chickens on Wednesday, too.

Blasting fruit and chilled poultry are part of what Jett calls Great American Moments in Redneck History.

You could also call it a guy thing.

I won't ruin the full story for you: Where the idea came, how he built the cannon or just how it all started after be bought a car on Ebay. That story publishes on Thursday.

I will say if you'd like to watch pumpkins and frozen chickens shot to distances nearing a mile, you're welcome to join us on Wednesday.

Jett will launch again noon on Wednesday at McMahan Welding Services, 269 U.S. Highway 183 South in Cuero. The shop is on the Cuero side of the river bridge, and on your left if you're headed from Victoria.

It should be a blast. Hope to see you there,
