If you voted in the Election Primary a few weeks ago, you know you had to vote for candidates in one party and not both.

If you preferred local candidates in both parties, you were forced by process to still vote for candidates in just one party.

George Matthews, local elections administrator, said he receives many complaints about this process during each election primary. The Texas Legislature set the primary rules long ago, he notes, and it's the system voters are bound by.

Is the primary election voting process fair?
