The answer is simple....I moved here in 1965; since that time Victoria has become a City central for many of the surrounding smaller towns where they can shop and come to the doctor or dentist without having to fight the traffic and congestion of San Antonio or Houston.....Austin or even Corpus. We have now become a respected medical center where the older people in the smaller towns can feel comfortable coming for high quality medical care yet feeling safer and more able to handle the drive than they would to the "big city". All you have to do is go to Wal-Mart on a Saturday and you will see more people from Cuero, Yoakum, Yorktown, Goliad, Karnes City, Kenedy, etc. etc. than you will from Victoria.
