  • La Estellita is a good idea. Look at San Marcos and Seguin Riverwalks.
    Need money? Here it is.

Transfer the VEDC annual budget, boot campaign, county airport, hotel-motel tax, convention center, new Airline road build, 463 overpasses, Victoria clean air, UHV replacement university, Keep Victoria beautiful, and Riverside parking money to the Riverwalk budget.

I can come up with a bunch more.

    Good luck

  • It's NOT rocket science.... Victoria needs to add to it's Virtually non existant tourism industry......yes, we do have an interesting history but what is all the racism about..... Are you going to change the historical FACTS....It is what it is ..Don't be such a prude " NO Iam NOT hispanic" But I do believe in giving RESPECT and CREDIT to our FOUNDERS...Be it Male/Female/Black/White/Hispanic..
The "River Walk" is a wonderful idea...But it would require "Victorian's" with a sense of vision , pride and financial creativity. Everyone of us are blessed with the "Right" to voice our opinons..... Thats is what makes this country GREAT!!

IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION.....
THEN YOU MUST BE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Let's give our best effort to give our children , grandchildren the best childhood memories we can......."Riverwalk" would bring families closer and supply a lifetime of memories and joy for all who take part, and let's not forget "Tourism"

    Peace Out !!!

  • Just so the kayakers can easily dock and the trail riders have a place to tie off their horses so they can all go eat and shop.

  • The original Victoria Riverwalk idea and plans was a pipe dream, and the plan never amounted to more than a fantasy of a few individuals with property in the immediate area. However, a successful Victoria riverwalk would be possible in Riverside Park by leasing and using the river bank property near the Pump House. Restaurants and bars could be built on stilts there above the flood level. By establishing and adhering to a strick entertainment district code, that riverside flood prone land could and would be developed, putting Victoria squarely on the unique riverwalk map. Of course, this idea won't happen either because the people who run things around here don't have any real vision, they all wear bifocals and are blind to things that really work. Unless they can find a way for themselves or their buddies to profit from an idea, an idea doesn't have merit around here. Mr. Semenza, while you are resurecting old ideas, you might look into what happened to the plans for a Don Martin DeLeon statue on DeLeon Plaza. That idea made the rounds years back too. The statue idea might have gotten off the ground were it not for the fact that the founder of Victoria was a Mexican. You can bet your bottom dollar there would be a statue to the founder of Victoria today had he been Anglo. In a pique of setting the historical record straight, the Advocate ran a editorial the other day relating the graphic accounts of Colonel Fannin and his men at Goliad. The graphic account of what happened to the DeLeon family right here in Victoria after the battle of San Jacinto deserves to be told as well.

  • yeah 26 years is rushing through it...also love when a 26 year old deal is "news"...now if they brought this actually back on the table...then I would see it as news...knowing the victoria advocate it will be a headline.

  • I think it's a great idea, but I think the city should stay out of it. They couldn't redirect the walking trail, I'd shudder to think of them trying to redirect a channel off the river.
