Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand...

...Make this world a better place if you can singing out of tune in my best Diana Ross voice No, this blog post is not a tribute to the Motown singer's 1970 debut solo single, even though it was a really beautiful, classic song. I started off this blog with that throwback because I thought it was a befitting soundtrack to a story I've been working on this week. 

Many of you may recall a story I did awhile back on Delmar Litchfield. Since coming to Texas in March 2010, Litchfield had opted to live in his single-cab Toyota truck because he couldn't find employment or housing that he could afford on his Social Security check and that would allow him to live with his two large dogs, Roja and Duke.  

Based on the strong reader feedback and touching reader contributions to Mr. Litchfield following the first article, we knew it was important to follow up with Mr. Litchfield and see how his life has changed over the last eight months.  Well, good news. We caught up with Mr. Litchfield on Monday, and we have an update for you inquiring minds. The story is scheduled to run on Friday, so be sure to check back then.
