Top 10 Stolen Vehicles---Is your vehicle a target?

According to the Houston Chronicle, The Houston Police Department released a rundown of the makes of cars were most often reported stolen in September. Granted I know little about the car jacking business, but I was surprised to see that no luxury cars such as Lexus, BMW or Mercedes made the Top 10 List. these numbers are from Houston, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume these may be some of the same vehicle preferences of those who steal vehicles in The Crossroads.

Here’s the Top 10 List, with number of reports:

  1. Chevrolet trucks, 161
  2. Ford trucks, 129
  3. Honda cars, 99
  4. Dodge trucks, 75
  5. GMC trucks, 45
  6. Ford cars, 42
  7. Chevrolet cars, 34
  8. Toyota cars, 31
  9. Dodge cars, 19
  10. Nissan cars. 17

Whether you drive a Bentley or a Kia Rio, remember: Lock your car. Hide your belongings. Take your keys. Don’t make it easy on those who like to take property that doesn’t belong to them. Have you been the victim or a motor vehicle burglary lately?
