Many years ago, and in the State of Florida, hmmmm, the family of a man who broke into a residence and was subsequently killed, sued the owner for unjustifiable homicide.. The court ruled the victim's family was correct and was to be compensated. The owner, defendant in cited case, rigged a shotgun to the door of his hunting trailer, to deal with unlawful entrants. The victim forcibly opened the door and entered the trailer, and the shotgun fulfilled its intended purpose. Sad, but true, the legal system often turns a jaundiced eye on an apparent (to most others) frivolous, ridiculous situation.
