Hello everyone!

Some of you may have already heard the news, but I wanted to follow up to my May 31 post about the Miami homeless man whose face was eaten off in an attack during Memorial Day Weekend.

Rudy Eugene, 31, was shot and killed by a Miami police officer after ignoring officers’ warnings to stop eating Ronald Poppo’s face along the MacArthur Causeway near Miami Beach.

Photos of Poppo immediately following the attack, can be seen at this link * Poppo’s nose, mouth and eyes were torn off during the 18-minute attack.

Police originally believed Eugene might have taken bath salts, known as the new “LSD”.

However, The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner said in a news release that the toxicology detected marijuana, but it didn't find any other street drugs, alcohol or prescription drugs, according to the Associated Press.

The department also ruled out the most common components found in bath salts, which mimic the effects of cocaine or methamphetamine.

An outside forensic toxicology lab, which took a second look at the results, confirmed the absence of bath salts, synthetic marijuana and LSD.

An expert on toxicology testing reportedly said marijuana alone wasn't likely to cause Eugene's behavior.

He is currently recovering at Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital.

If bath salts are not to blame, I wonder what caused the incident.

Makes you wonder, right?
