Mothers, did you get the gift you wanted for Mother’s Day?

One Beaumont mother reacted violently after she received a gift that did not meet her expectations.

Beaumont police arrested 20-year-old Paige Parkerson this past Monday on charges of allegedly stabbing her fiancé, Clifton Barkin, to death while their children slept, only a few feet away from the attack, according to News station KFDM.

Relatives of the victim reportedly said Parkerson committed the crime because she felt her inexpensive Mother's Day gift wasn't good enough.

Barkin, 21, died at the home.

The father, Clifton “JR” Barkin, was dropped off at the home he shared with Parkerson about 11:30 p.m. Sunday night by his mother, Evetta Wright, after she drove him to a local Wal-Mart to purchase flowers and a Mother’s Day card for Parkerson, according to News One.

But on Monday morning, Wright says she got a phone call from Parkerson saying that she had killed her son.

The couple's two-year-old and three-month-old sons were sleeping in their bedrooms, just feet away from the attack.

The couple's sons are staying with their grandfather in Woodville.

Officers arrested the woman and took her to the police station where she gave a statement to detectives. She was then transported to the Jefferson County Jail and charged with murder.

Parkerson is being held on a $75,000 bond.
