Let me start off by saying, I'm not complaining. I'm grateful for what I've got: my home, family and a little bit of sanity after the events last week.

However, just some observations, even though we weren't directly affected by Rita, the aftermath can be seen in our stores.

Was at the HEB in Port Lavaca last night. We went to get a few things, like bananas, which were nowhere to be found. Seems like HEB gets their shipment from Freeport, and has not received a supply since the storm.

We walked around some more and noticed there was not much poultry or meat to be found, and bread, forget about it. There I saw the nearly empty shelves where bread could be once found in abundance. The few loaves that were left were mostly wheat bread, the Sarah Lee white wheat. Good for me, I usually buy that anyway.

I didn't get a chance to go over to the Wal-Mart to see how they were on grocery items.

Wonder when all the stores will be stocked up again. Feel free to share your grocery store observations, or if you know of a place that has bananas in stock, hehe. But like I said, no complaints here. As long as I have my PopTarts I'm fine.
