Finally, the entry I have been promising for ages is here. I am here to tell you all about podcasting.

First of all, what is it?

"Podcasting" is a word coined in 2004 that combined two words: "iPod" and "broadcasting."

Podcasting is the distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the internet using either RSS or Atom syndication for listening on mobile devices and personal computers.

A podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to subscribe to, and also the content of that feed.

Podcasters' websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming (see below).

Podcasting's essence is about creating content (audio or video) for an audience that wants to listen when they want, where they want, and how they want.

CJ's simplified definition: A podcast can be described as an audio form of a blog.

The traditional media has picked up on podcasts and you can now download and subscribe to podcasts from the BBC, NPR, ABC, the New York Times, just to name a few.

Once you download a podcast, you can play it on most of your media players, like Windows Media Player, iTunes, WinAmp, etc.

What about my own podcast I have been promising you?
