You can now listen to a online scanner feed for Victoria County, which includes fire and police at the following address: victoria.tx.scanamerica.us/index.php

I've also embedded the player here, if the code works, you may be able to listen by clicking on the play button below.

I've been working on this online feed for about a week now, and it is still a work in progress. The feed/audio may go down at times as I work on it. I'm also waiting on some equipment that will hopefully improve the audio. I'll admit the only scanners I've worked on before this were the kind you scan documents and photos with, so I've had a lot to learn.

If any of you are interested in listening to this scanner feed on your iPhones, you can download a free app called FStream (you can listen to other online radio stations as well) and type in the address of the Victoria feed.

Here is a screenshot of what the app looks like:

Victoria Twitter users on the map

Earlier this week Advocate editor Chris Cobler blogged about twittering during the Super Bowl on Sunday with other fellow Twitter users. It appears that we weren't the only ones tweeting away on Sunday.

The New York Times has an interactive map of tweets posted during the Super Bowl. I was amazed to see Victoria was on the map.

The map itself is very cool, especially when you press play on the game timeline and watch which words appeared during the game and during the commercial breaks.
