Image The weak economy has caused many to reconsider spending money on a cable bill and more people are tuning in to watch their favorite TV shows online.

Others are perhaps not prepared for the digital transition and choose to turn to the Internet instead to get their TV fix. The success of Netflix, which also provides streaming movies online, has also caused many to stop renting DVDs from brick and mortar stores.

Have you cut the cord on your cable or satellite TV and instead chose to watch your content online? Or do you know someone who primarily watches TV shows and movies online?

If so, I'm working on a feature article about this topic and would like to talk to you. You can contact me at cjcastillo@vicad.com or 580-6516.

Personally, I like to go to Hulu.com to catch any shows I may have missed or if I want to watch classic TV shows that are no longer on the air. The only downside is when my Internet connection starts acting up and I can only watch shows in bursts of 30 seconds or less.

  • From what I have heard through the "grapevine" that many internet providers servers have been affected by this trend. Along with the numerous music and movie downloads, there are discussions on increasing fees on heavy downloaders.
I contend that if the economy does not kill future expansion, over the next four years all televison broadcast will switch to the net.
