Have you ever watched a movie or TV show and immediately recognized the make and model of the gadgets used?
What's that you say? You mean you didn't notice the Apple IIc used by Lazlo in "Real Genius?" OK, maybe I'm the only nerd that notices these things...or maybe not.

There is a Web site that documents computers used in film called StarringtheComputer.com.
According to the site, each appearance of a computer is cataloged and rated on its importance, realism and visibility. Oh, and fictional computers do not make the list. Sorry, Hal. The person who maintains the site, James Carter, is a computer systems administrator from York in the UK. [Source: TechCrunch.com]
Can you guess the computer used in this scene from Seinfeld?

Still nothing? How about a better look here?

To find the answer click here at StarringtheComputer.com: Seinfeld - Season 3, Episode 11 "The Alternate Side"

June 6, 2009 at 12:28 p.m.Weird. Not sure why this is showing up as new. I opened it earlier to edit but didn't think I changed it.
June 4, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.And did anybody wonder why this is a new blog all of the sudden?
By the way CJ, thanks for the fix on the comments, the poll comments now show where there at.
June 4, 2009 at 7:17 p.m.I did not see the movie "Real Genius" and I know nothing about Apple products. What I remember the most about the Tandy TRS-80 is the sorry key board: once the key board broke, the whole computer was worthless. The key board could not be replaced or repaired. Also, the system would over heat if left on for any length of time.

May 26, 2009 at 4:19 p.m.CJ, I wouldn't be able to tell one of my old computers from my new computer. As long as it works, I am happy. I do however, read your columns and blogs and have actually learned from your pointers and knowledge in this field. My oldest has his degree in this field, and he sighs a lot when he has to help me with a glitch here are there.
May 26, 2009 at 4:02 p.m.Me too!
May 22, 2009 at 8:04 a.m.I'm surprised nobody's told you that's a Trash 80 (Tandy TRS-80) yet.
