If you are a current Netflix customer, prepare for some changes. Today the company announced new pricing plans, separating the plans into DVD-only and streaming-only plans.

If you are currently a subscriber to Netflix's $9.99 a month membership which allows for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs, well, that plan no longer exists. Instead it will be split into 2 separate plans. Which means if you want to keep your existing setup, you will have to pay more $$$.

From The Netflix blog:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming), for $7.99 a month.
The price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99).
For new members, these changes are effective immediately; for existing members, the new pricing will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011 [Source: Netflix blog]

Netflix is also offering another plan for $11.99 a month, which allows for 2 DVDs out at-a-time.

I haven't had much time to think about how I feel about this new price plan. I did have the unlimited DVD/streaming plan, but as of lately had been mostly using Netflix's streaming service. However, that said, I don't think I care much for having to pay more for a DVD option.

It may be time to start looking at other options, such as Amazon, Hulu or even Apple TV.

What are your thoughts about it?
