New Year Resolution: Donate Blood!

Happy New Year, Crossroads residents! I hope 2009 treated you well and your 2010 is filled with even more joy and new experiences. I wish you all luck in keeping your New Year resolutions.

As we embark on a new year, I would like to leave you with a challenge: become a regular blood donor.

Blood can be donated every 56 days. If all eligible blood donors donated at least two times a year, it would alleviate all blood shortages for the foreseeable future. You can donate as many as six times a year and it only takes about an hour to donate. Six hours of your life per year and you can save up to three lives with each donation.

The 2010 year also brings about new opportunities for the Victoria area. Platelet donations can be made every two weeks or as many as 24 times a year. Platelet donations begin on Jan. 4 at the Victoria Donor Room. For more info on donating platelets,click here.
