Happy Tuesday. Here's what we're working on for Wednesday morning:
Who is the Crossroads Most Powerful No. 8? Find out for sure on Wednesday, but here's a hint. This person has these things on his desk: “Forbes,” a can of 3-in-1 oil, a manual pencil sharpener and a subpoena.
Other important stories we're working on include a local story on the swine flu, a follow-up to Monday's extreme weather and why the county isn't on board yet with the proposed overpasses near the new east high school.
Our B1 centerpiece is our April Advocate of the Month. Here's a sneak peek at that story: David Barnes doesn't think of himself as any one special, but others do.
Barnes, manager of Wendel Motor Co., has been making a difference in Yoakum for more than 30 years.
“He’s always willing and wanting to help. He’s a low-key guy who does a lot for the community,” said Mike Reinhardt, a friend for almost 30 years.
Among the stories we'll have in sports, we'll preview the UHV softball team's trip to Georgia for the NAIA qualifying tournament, and check out our weekly athletes of the week.
Please let us know what you think about these stories or if you have tips or suggestions on any others. Please remember that breaking news can change our plans.
