For Saturday, we have some solid local stories for readers.

Our planned A1 centerpiece will be a Warriors Weekend feature on a veteran. Most of the veterans arrive today for the big event, which continues with fishing and other activities on Saturday. For more: Warriors Weekend

Other A1 contenders: -- Courts reporter Leslie Wilber will have a story on judge granting a motion to suppress cocaine evidence, the result of a recent supreme court ruling; -- Public Service Editor Gabe Semenza will update us with a story on the latest Exelon news, which according to a Reuters report said that URS was chosen by Hitachi for an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the nuclear project in Victoria County.

Also, we're checking to see if any area GM dealers were affected by that automaker's decision to shut down more than 1,000 dealers. Early indications are no, but we'll bring you a complete report.

For our B1 centerpiece, we covered the police officers memorial and will have a feature story and photo.

Our sports guys are busy as well, with UHV softball nationals day two, MHS baseball playoff game 2; first-day track results from Corpus Christi and second-day golf results featuring the Yoakum girls.

Please let us know what you think about these stories or if you have tips or suggestions on any others. Please remember, breaking news can change these plans.
