One of the bigger stories I have done recently centered around a rarely-used economic incentive that the city has prepared to act upon. Also, a story about Victoria's decision to nix an agreement with a volunteer labor force for Riverside Stadium was published in today's Advocate.

City, Friends group disagree on why Riverside Stadium agreement ended

Doug Cochran, parks and recreation director, said he would make a presentation to city council on Tuesday about the decision in regards to Riverside Stadium. What should council members ask of Cochran?

What do you think about either story? What updates would you like to see? What should be done?

  • If Doug Cochran is giving a report to city council next Tuesday ... I would like to hear the 'other side of the story' from a ranking member of Friends of Victoria Baseball, at the same council meeting.
    Can that be arranged?

I have a hard time believing that Cochran took it upon himself to eliminate Friend of Victoria Baseball from Riverside Stadium on his own. I would like to know who instructed him to do it, and why.

I understand that the Advocate has requested all e-mails, etc reguarding this situation. I hope this correspondence is made public.

  • In addition to EdithAnn's request, I would like to hear more about the meeting where the Friends supposedly said they would be disbanding in a few years, something they now say they never said. This may be a simple misunderstanding or there may be more to it.

  • I'd like to see the financials on Friends. That would clear up the question of who has paid what and where the money has been spent and exactly how much has been spent.
